Saturday July 20:
Becoming Balance: Inversions & hand balancing (2.5 hours)
Becoming Balance focuses on fine-tuning the fundamental elements needed for classical handstand skills. Pulling inspiration from circus style hand balancing, gymnastics and more subtle yogic techniques, participants will experience an effective fusion of movement methods. Expect to clean up your handstand technique, experience a number of intermediate to advanced hand balance skills and set the stage for rapid personal progress.
Beyond Balance: Handstands & advanced hand balancing (2.5 hours)
Building upon Becoming Balance principles, Beyond Balance takes a closer look at entries and variations of the classical straight handstand. Participants will have opportunity to explore dynamic handstand movement, different head positions, progressions towards basic single arm balances like to croc and airbaby as well as sought-after circus-style shapes such as hollowbacks and the Seven.
All levels will benefit from the experience, however it is recommended to have a basic freestanding handstand.
Sunday July 21:
Intelligent Spine: Back-Bending (2.5 hours)
Many modern movement modalities are largely designed around fine-tuning the functionality of the human spine. If performed improperly, back-bends are sure to cause injuries and prevent proper personal progress. If practiced properly however, back-bending can bring profoundly positive physical, mental and emotional benefits.
In this session, we take a closer look at the effective development and manipulation of the human spine. Intelligent Spine is appropriate for all levels and very highly recommended. Notebooks welcome.
Keys to Creating Yourself: the practice of meditation (90minutes)
By now, the vast majority of modern populations understand that there is some sort of connection between the body and mind. Many studies have been conducted that show how certain mental and ‘meditative’ techniques have a profound effect on the optimization of physical performance. Part theory and part practical, during this session participants will gain powerful tools which they can then choose to use in the creation of optimal external conditions.
No prior meditation experience necessary.
